Front Runner – Dilip Kumar

Front Runner – Dilip Kumar

Front Runners are exceptional individuals who run for the cause of educating children at Bhumi. Every stride they take helps Bhumi support the children with their literacy, numeracy and life skills. Thank you, Front Runners – for taking us forward in this journey of Change.

1) Tell us a little about yourself

My name is Dilip Kumar, I am  from Bangalore & a proud member of the flourishing business community of marwaris. I run my own business of raw material for making bags. Being an entrepreneur I face the stress of running a successful business everyday. This took a toll on my body & It was in 2013 that I realised the need to maintain a healthy body in order to cope up with this stress – I started being regular to my gym and in June 2014 I began by running journey. Till date  I have participated in several running events including 50km Ultra, 70km Tuffman Coorg Ultra & a 12 Hour Individual Stadium Run.

2) What made you take up running ?

One day in my gym, I saw my trainer run 21 Km on the treadmill, it was a moment of shock but it also made me reflect on the human potential to achieve anything that it puts its mind to. I decided even I can achieve this feat, not only for a healthy body but also to challenge my mental abilities.

3) What does running mean to you?

Ever heard someone call running their “drug”?

Well, apparently, it actually is pretty similar. Running is like my stress buster tool. It gives me that happy space & allows me to become more focused.

What is the source of your inspiration? What keeps you motivated to continue running ?

My time alone during my runs, allows me to think and find solutions to my problems  It helps me to feel refreshed and insightful when I go back to my business. This has in turn improved my  work a lot, I can perform much better now.
This inspires me to keep running and stay focused!

How do you associate Bhumi with the cause you believe in ?

Since running is about a community & it has a wide reach, associating it with a cause can mean spreading the message to a far reaching audience. I am happy to be a part of Bhumi’s cause for education of underprivileged and support it wholeheartedly.

I congratulate them on the wonderful work they are doing & would love to be associated with it for a long time.
